How long did GSN use their green ball "Taped ______" bug to show the tape date? I don't remember if it ever was active when I first got GSN...

They showed the tape dates(in the early years, the Green Ball logo was absent, and their first logo was seen in the bug) during the shows from their 12/1/94 launch to around 1999.

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

Way to throw in the "Horan Spin".

I believe the green ball logos came up around the time they lost the G-T library; I don't remember them lasting very long after that.

To be honest, that's one thing I wouldn't mind seeing return.

They continued in 1998 and 1999 back when they did Faux Pause picks. The partial episode of Emmons Chain Reaction Jimmy F. C. had up on his site came from a FPP airing of it, and it had the bug with the June 1986 tapedate.

Same here. I got GSN in 2001, so I never saw them until I started tape trading. They're pretty helpful if you're trying to figure out when a program aired, and the year isn't shown in the end credits.

I'd have to agree, the bugs seemed so cool looking, and sometimes I really would like to know the date of a show without having to look it up on the 'net...

The last time I watched TVLand, they had brief title cards giving the airdates and small pieces of information. I know that reading the info would take away from the ad time, but just flashing the card for a second or two would be very helpful and (at least with most celeb-based shows) not that difficult to track.
